The Social Employers, together with their Romanian member FONSS and the European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU), hosted a national event in Bucharest on the topic “Social Services and sectoral social dialogue: strengthening the capacity of social partners”.
This meeting was held on 5th December 2019 in the framework of the Dialogues project; a project that aims to build capacity for national and EU-level sectoral social dialogue in social services.
It was opened by Social Employers Director Sylvain Renouvel, who gave an introduction to the social Employer’s work, Social dialogue at EU level and the deliverables of the DialogueS project.
Diana Chiriacescu from FONSS then introduced the participants, Social services providers and representatives of unions, to the state of play of social dialogue in social services in Romania, regarding the main players and structures & main hindering factors for the establishment of social dialogue structures in the country.
In a following discussion, participants exchanged views on representativeness of social partner organisations in the Romanian legal system and possible ways towards the creation of private non-profit employer’s organisation for social services in Romania.
The outcomes of the meeting will be turned into a report on the state of play of sectoral social dialogue in social services and the main workforce trends and challenges in Romania, to be finalised by the end of the project, July 2020.
