The EU Commission has opened the consultation period on the European Pillar of Social Rights. Views can be presented until 30 November 2020.
The European Pillar of Social Rights (EPSR) is one of the European Commission’s main tools to drive forward a social Europe for all European citizens. The Pillar’s 20 principles endorse the right to accessible, good-quality and affordable social services such as long-term care and in particular home care and community-based services. At least 6 of the Pillar’s principles can only be realised through effective and quality social services systems.
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, committed to further develop actions to better implement the principles and rights during her mandate. To support the implementation of the Pillar and prepare the ground for the Pillar’s Action Plan (to be presented in early 2021), the Commission launched a broad discussion with all EU countries and regions.
All stakeholders are invited to participate in the consultation until 30 November, providing their views on new policy actions or legal initiatives needed on different levels (EU, national, regional, local).
The Social employers intend to answer and invite its members at national level to contribute and share in the network.
