EC Consultation on Health and Safety at Work

The EU Commission has opened a consultation for feedback on the future Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at Work. The information and opinions collected will be used to provide input to prepare and improve the EU Strategic Framework for the period 2021-2027.

The Commission invites citizens and organisations to provide their views to help the Commission to ensure the right of EU workers, health and safety at work, and a working environment adapted to their professional needs.

This initiative is built on the previous EU Strategic Framework 2014-2020. The EU Strategic Framework on Health and Safety at Work aims to maintain and improve the high health & safety standards for EU workers, takes into consideration the new circumstances due to COVID-19, and will help to prepare for new potential crises and threats.

To promote safe and healthy workplaces, the Social Employers, together with EPSU, will participate in the EU-OSHA campaign “Healthy Workplaces - Lighten the Load 2020-22”. The campaign aims to raise awareness and support preventive measures to tackle work-related Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD).

MSDs remain highly prevalent in Europe, approximately three in every five workers report MSD complaints. Social services workers are also at very high risk of suffering from MSDs. Therefore, it is crucial that employers and employee representatives work together so that workplace risks potentially leading to MSDs are effectively assessed and controlled.

The Social Employers encourages you to provide your feedback. The consultation period is open until 1st March 2021.
