The European Social Policy Network (ESPN) has published thematic reports on the national long-term care (LTC) provision in 35 European countries and the challenges ahead, with a focus on LTC for the elderly (65 or over).
The reports contain a description of the main features of the countries’ LTC systems and an analysis of the main challenges, such as effective access to LTC services and benefits, maintaining and improving the quality of life of the elderly and the persons who provide services as well as employment challenges and questions of financial sustainability of LTC. An analysis of the indicators available in the countries for measuring LTC is also included in the reports.
The ESPN also provides a synthesis report that puts forward key findings from the in-depth national reports and gives national and EU-level recommendations.
