On 20th May, the Social Employers, together with EASPD and EPSU, hosted a side-event at the Annual Convention for Inclusive Growth (ACIG) in Brussels. The event title was: “How can investment in social services workforce deliver inclusive growth? Innovative approaches in recruitment, retention and training.”
This year’s ACIG focused on "Inclusive Growth post 2020: looking at the future of Social Europe". The day was split between plenary talks, workshops and interactive sessions to exchange ideas and best practices on how to build a social Europe in the years to come.
At the Social Employer’s side-event, different speakers presented the trends and main challenges related to recruitment and retention of social services workers, their key characteristics and skills needed today and in the future to deliver more inclusive support systems. The presentations were followed by a discussion with the over 50 participants of the side-event.
The event was a good opportunity for the Social Employers to introduce our work and engage with other European stakeholders, to discuss and exchange ideas on the needs, challenges and opportunities of the social services sector in Europe.
The panel was made up of six speakers from different organisations:
- Federation of European Social Employers: Sylvain Renouvel
- EASPD: Luk Zelderloo and Asel Kadyrbaeva
- EPSU: Mathias Maucher
- SNAECSO: Joëlle Garello
- AGE Platform: Borja Arrue Astrain
The main messages of the panellists are available here.
