Social services workers are at very high risk of suffering from work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). To raise awareness and tackle them, the Federation of European Social Employers joined the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA) "Healthy Workplaces - Lighten the Load" campaign.
The campaign aims to create safer and healthier workplaces, by increasing awareness on work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) and promoting working together to take effective preventive measures to tackle MSDs.
This initiative also aims to help improve the social services sector’s working conditions and attractiveness.

Objectives
- Raise awareness on MSDs;
- Discuss the impact of MSDs on the social services workforce and how to prevent them in the sector, including via the involvement of social partners.
Main activities
- Organise seminars and trainings on MSD prevention in social services together with EPSU;
- Joint recommendations with EPSU on MSD in social services,
- Communication and dissemination of practices and tools through different communication channels.
